It's funny because it's true.

that's pretty damn cool.

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (none / 0)

Yes finally!!  We need more. Please give us more, Barack. Sean Hannity, Bill O'Rielly, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Rove, et. al. these guys are all nuts. They make up crap constantly. They disregard facts, expert information, history, math, science, reality...you get the point. They're the idiots who've caused so much divisiveness in this country. And yes, they do take pride in being ignorant. Ignorance = conservatism.

by Steve24 on Tue Aug 05, 2008 at 05:35:38 PM EST

If he gives more, (none / 0)

He'll be accused of being "angry" and "arrogant" for calling people ignorant.

John McCain: He flunked ECON 101.

Re: If he gives more, (none / 0)

Probably, but McBush's campaign strategists aren't really 'people'. They're slime balls. Obama called them ignorant.

haha (none / 0)

I love it, this is going to be a sad election for McCain.  Can you imagine how the debates are going to be?

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (none / 0)

Most of them could not even spell "ignorant"
..and yes I start with Bush,, and probably McCain.

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (2.00 / 1)

Well anyone stupid enough to make the argument that proper tire inflation DOESN'T help your gas milage IS ignorant.  I have heard that for years.  I don't know if it will make up the entire amount in conservation mind you as Obama said, BUT it DOES help add MPG to a car.  Its why a lot of people are doing nitrogen in their tires... it keeps them properly inflated longer.

Love it!

So true...I'm glad he's starting to hit at them hard, and point out how stupid they sound :-)

Uh oh, (none / 0)

Did you see? He touched his ear... must have been giving McCain the finger.

by Tatan on Tue Aug 05, 2008 at 06:00:11 PM EST

Ha! (2.00 / 3)

I've been waiting for him to turn that around - make fun of John McCain for "running ads about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears".

You can flog this all the way to November.  At a debate: "I understand my opponent was upset to learn that there would be no questions about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears".  In an ad "Barack Obama has a 500 billion dollar plan to get Americans back to work.  John McCain... wants to talk about Paris Hilton".  etc.

I have that readiness.

Re: Ha! (none / 0)

Nice, yeah McCain is doing the "funny mean" ads, while Obama get's to respond with a "What's even Funnier, is that you are an idiot" to McCain.

It's awesome, did you hear the crowd light up at the end when he slammed McCain's campaign?

Brilliant

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (none / 0)

His great asset as a campaigner is that he can skewer an opponent with laughter, a genuine smile on his face.

Here's a scene I'd like to see at his speech at Mile High (or whatever corporate name is now on the Bronco stadium). Barack wants to raise the Social Security tax on people making over $250k annually which, I assume, means over $500k a couple. What percentage of folks make that much money? One percent? Two percent? Let's assume two percent for the sake of argument. Assuming the stadium of 75k is filled, he says something like, "You want to see how may people will see a tax hike in my administration? OK -- will all the folks in Sections A3 and A4 please stand up" [meaning 1500 out of the total]. Barack then makes some joke about them being the unfortunate ones. He then says, "Now, will everyone else in the stadium please stand up, because not only will these folks not see a tax hike, most of them will receive a $1k tax credit!" And then Barack launches into one of those remarkable cadences that only he can do, similar to the one at the end of the video above. It would make for great theater.

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (none / 0)

Its alot less than 2%... that makes it even better.

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (none / 0)

the line about republican/conservatives 'taking pride in being ignorant' is a good one, but overall its hardly what I'd characterize as being "fired up"...barely lukewarm in my book. There is just so much damn material on the idiocy, greed, and insidiousness of republicans/conservatives.

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (none / 0)

Yeah that was cool... I've fallen in love with Cnn Live and I pretty much watched every speech and town hall meeting he has given over the past month or so and this is the hardest he has hit McCain and the GOP.

I thought it was pretty good and a good laugh too!

I want more...!!!

What about Redstates' Math? (none / 0)

What do you think of Redstate's blogger friends doing math refuting Obama?  Do we have those experts lined up to back this up?  I'd like to see this meme end with Obama solidly on top.

by bekhardt on Tue Aug 05, 2008 at 07:15:36 PM EST

Re: What about Redstates' Math? (none / 0)

It's not entirely accurate, but it's close enough. The fact that it even comes close should be enough to demonstrate how little drilling will help.

Re: What about Redstates' Math? (none / 0)

LOL, that's assuming that Powerline, Jake Tapper and Jim somebody's huge assumptions about unexplored resources are true.
A common estimate for oil available in shale deposits is 1 trillion barrels, but it's not just sitting there waiting to be sucked out of the ground.
First of all, they haven't even developed an environmentally sound and cost efficient way to extract oil from shale (once oil drops below a certain price, it's no longer feasible), though Shell Oil is working on a new method, that might be commercially available by 2010. At this point it takes almost more energy to get it out of the shale then you get from the oil you produce, and the quality of the oil is poor (heavy crude).
The oil in the unexplored oil reserves off our coasts and in Alaska is an unknown quantity, because the areas have not been explored yet.
You can guess that there's 10 billion barrels there, but it will still be 10 to 15 years before any oil is coming out of the ground.
Obama's idea about tuning your car and keeping your tires properly inflated will affect demand now.
"Who are you for? That is the wrong question. It should be who is for you?" HRC

Yes! Make McCain try to be funny in return (none / 0)

What I like about this is that it tempts McCain to try to be funny. . . and he's really, really not good at canned funny.  It comes out manic and angry and forced.

And then there's that smile of McCain's, which is also manic, angry, and forced.

by maconblue on Tue Aug 05, 2008 at 08:13:14 PM EST

Re: Yes! Make McCain try to be funny in return (none / 0)

My wife was making the same observation about McCain -- how unnatural his laugh and smile are.

It is kind of unnerving when you think this guy does have a chance at becoming President.

When I think McCain, I think Armageddon.

I wanna hear it every day (2.00 / 1)

This was pretty damn good.

I'd like to hear him talk like that every day.

The sad fact is that while those of us who follow politics closely ground every detail about Obama into dust over the last six months or so the great mass of Americans only know that he is the black guy who is running for president.

The country needs to meet and become acquainted with the Senator Obama in this video.

by James Earl on Tue Aug 05, 2008 at 09:49:03 PM EST

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (none / 0)

I said yesterday that Obama has a real opportunity to flip this around on McCain.

Obama should follow-up his good energy ad from yesterday with one slamming McCain for making fun of tire pressure showing the Time article, the NASCAR site and the comments from Arnold and Charlie Crist encouraging people to inflate their tires.  The announcer could then say while John McCain's energy plan is to make fun of real solutions that could save YOU money, Barack Obama has a plan that has $1,000 energy tax credit, etc, etc.

This is a real opening for Obama and I hope his campaign takes it.

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (none / 0)

This was really good. Nothing else to say other than this Obama needs to show up through 2016 because this one would lead the country in a new direction. The post partisan only goes so far.

by bruh3 on Tue Aug 05, 2008 at 11:28:00 PM EST

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (2.00 / 1)

Better yet, he didn't even leave post-partisanship behind.  He simply called ignorant liars what they are: ignorant liars.

There's nothing partisan about that.

Re: Barack Obama Gets Fired Up (none / 0)

I also like how the fact that they're lying is a throwaway line - like "two things, well first of all they know they're lying, but second _" and then he goes on for two minutes.

I have that readiness.
