Wilson (NM-01): McCain Will Get Us Out of Iraq Sooner Than Obama

I will assume for a moment that Congresswoman Heather Wilson (NM-01) is workiong with John McCain's interest at heart. But whether she is helping or hurting him is a matter for debate. Having lost her senate primary, she must be angling for an administration job, but this remark will probably not go far in gaining employment after January, especially if she wants to imply that McCain will get us out of Iraq sooner than Barack Obama.

The McCain campaign has come up with an intriguing new way to sell his opposition to a timetable for withdrawal: McCain just might withdraw from Iraq sooner than Obama's 16 month deadline!

"He'd like troops to come home earlier than 16 months if the conditions allow it," said Congresswoman Heather Wilson of New Mexico, on a conference call with reporters just now. "Senator Obama has said it's a 16-month timeline no matter what."

I know there are competant Republicans out there. I saw them in the 2004 election. This year we definately have the B Team at work.

I remember her from 2004 (none / 0)

She is such a jerk. I remember, ActBlue and the Netroots targeted her last time, but I think she is a Red/Red district.

Actually (none / 0)

she's in a 50/50, slightly Dem leaning district.  Our 2006 nominee was strong, but had a major issue or two and lost the race.

But never fear, Wilson gave up the House seat to run for Senate and lose the GOP primary.

So after she year, she's gone!

Our nominee (none / 0)

against her in 06 was one of the only Democratic failures of the 06 season. Patricia Madrid should have squashed Wilson, but she performed poorly in debates and had bad campaign commercials. One debate even had the "deer in the headlights" moment, where she simply was at a loss to answer a question.

One of our only failures...but fortunately, that psycho Heather Wilson is out of office come January.

Re: Our nominee (none / 0)

Who cares - I wanna get out of Iraq faster than 16 months.  I'm all ears, Ms. Wilson.
